Japanese American WWII veterans have a special place in history. While 120,000 Japanese Americans at home were incarcerated in mainland camps, the legendary all-Nisei (second generation Japanese American) 100th Battalion and the 442nd Regimental Combat Team was the most decorated unit for its size and length of service in American history. The 100th/442nd suffered the highest casualty rate of any unit in the history of the US Army.
